Creating Employment for Vulnerable Residents

Since 2005, CHF has been working with USAID to promote job creation for vulnerable, rural communities in Armenia. Working in close collaboration with the Government of Armenia, local organizations, and communities, the CHF program provides employment opportunities through small-scale, labor-intensive infrastructure projects. In cooperation with local organizations, CHF mobilizes communities to target the most-needed infrastructure improvements, such as rehabilitating potable water systems, installing village gas distribution systems and improving kindergartens, community centers and other essential infrastructure.

Since 2005, in Armenia, CHF has:

  • Completed more than 30 public works projects
  • Generated more than 142,000 days of employment
  • Provided short-term labor opportunities for more than 1,600 vulnerable people.
  • Trained more than 570 people in marketable vocational skills in the construction sector
  • Benefited upwards of 210,000 vulnerable residents through the improvement of social and economic infrastructure
