CHF International’s programs in Europe and the Caucasus are assisting the region’s countries in their transition to market-based economies following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Programs incorporate CHF’s proven methodology of community-based development—mobilizing communities to democratically prioritize their needs and work in conjunction with local private, NGO, and municipal partners to achieve them. CHF International is also helping to strengthen the competitiveness of industries through strategic partnerships and access to affordable finance.
CHF's efforts in Armenia focus on job creation for vulnerable, rural communities through the rehabilitation and repair of community-prioritized infrastructure.
The Community Development Activity Program provided direct community development by training democratically elected Community Development Councils to help communities prioritize, plan, budget and implement local projects.
CHF's community-based development programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina are improving the social and economic circumstances of families and communities by promoting cooperative businesses and expanding access to credit.
CHF is providing vocational training in the construction sector and expanding employment opportunities through community-identified infrastructure projects.
CHF is improving the learning environment in Kosovo schools by addressing the ugent need for new and upgraded facilities.
Through the Community Revitalization through Democratic Action program, CHF has helped Montenegrins build a stronger economy based on citizen participation and targeted economic development with special focus on the tourism and agriculture industries.
As one of the largest development finance providers in the country, Express Finance contributes to the development of communities and the rise of household incomes by offering loans to expand small and medium enterprises and improve housing.
Since 2000, CHF has been working in Serbia to promote peace, stability and economic development. Currently, CHF is helping communities prepare for disasters while promoting job creation in partnership with local businesses.
