Providing Access to Clean Water

Millions of the world’s most vulnerable communities live in areas in which access to clean water is a luxury. CHF International works with communities to reduce their vulnerability to illnesses related to unsafe water and poor sanitation.

CHF’s water and sanitation activities are designed to be integrated and community-driven, assisting communities to live healthier lives. In line with CHF’s participatory approach to development, projects are designed and implemented in close collaboration with local communities and other stakeholders, while applying innovative technologies that are environmentally sound and sustainable. Programs include:

  • construction of clean drinking water supply systems (in a range of settings including post-disaster, rural, and urban, etc.);
  • establishing systems for appropriate management, operation and cost recovery (for instance, by creating village-level water management committees, or water usage fees, etc.); and
  • health promotion activities, to increase awareness about the importance of clean water, water conservation, and environmental preservation.

Our efforts to provide clean water infrastructure are integrally linked to our sanitation programming.
