Vocational Training & Workforce Development
Workforce development refers to initiatives that address both the demand and the supply side of the labor market by identifying potential areas of employment growth and developing the skills of job-seekers to meet that demand. In this manner, CHF International strives to create sustained economic growth while creating real job opportunities for individuals.
In conflict-affected environments, successful reconstruction efforts provide young people with productive work opportunities as soon as possible following hostilities. Young people play a critically important stabilizing role in this period, and often represent the majority of the working population that is so important for economic stability. Effective post-conflict reconstruction effots also work towards longer-term goals, such as reviving the market economy, restoring investor confidence, and reducing dependency on donor assistance.
The USAID-funded CHF International KATA Program in Haiti is one of many examples of our work where we have integrated the best principles of workforce development into our larger programmatic efforts.
